A coordinated Russian missile and drone assault inflicted injuries on at least 11 people, including a child, in Kyiv, targeting multiple districts and damaging civilian infrastructure. Explosions and fires erupted across Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi, with a three-story office and warehouse consumed by flames and another warehouse damaged in the eastern part of the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Russia launched over 120 drones and a dozen missiles, roughly half of which were ballistic. Ukraine’s air defenses intercepted or disrupted most of the aerial onslaught, shooting down or electronically neutralizing 111 drones and two missiles. Despite these efforts, the attacks still caused direct hits at 11 locations in Kyiv, occurring before air raid warnings were issued.
The offensive in Kyiv coincided with intensified Ukrainian operations targeting Russian maritime supply lines in the Sea of Azov. Ukrainian forces reported damaging 21 tankers, alongside four tugboats, two cargo ships, and a dredging vessel, aiming to disrupt channels vital to Russian military logistics, particularly those supporting operations in Crimea and southern Ukraine.
Russian officials acknowledged the drone strike killed one individual, a sailor aboard a technical support vessel, while claiming only four ships sustained minor damage. This contrasts with Ukraine’s account of broader impacts on maritime assets. The clash over control of supply routes marks an ongoing effort by Ukraine to weaken Russia’s operational capacity in contested regions.
