Madhya Pradesh has secured the lowest unemployment rate in India, according to recent labour survey data confirming an estimated rate of approximately 1.6%. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav highlighted this achievement during a public event in Lahar, Bhind district, where he also rolled out several welfare and industrial projects aimed at sustaining economic growth and social upliftment across the state.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the 38th instalment of the 'Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana,' a direct benefit transfer scheme that has so far provided financial support to over 12.5 million women in Madhya Pradesh. This single-click transfer initiative underpins the government’s efforts to empower women economically and boost grassroots development.
On the industrial front, CM Yadav announced major upcoming investments, including a Rs 2,000 crore cement plant in Guna and a Rs 2,500 crore industrial project planned for Shivpuri. Additionally, the state is involved in advanced defense manufacturing, with the development of a missile capable of reaching targets over 1,000 kilometers away. This defense initiative signifies Madhya Pradesh’s contribution to national security advancements.
The government is also extending its commitment to agriculture and rural welfare through the ongoing ‘Farmer Welfare Year’ scheme, with additional benefits expected soon. Yadav confirmed the launch of postgraduate courses at the local college in Lahar, addressing long-standing community demands for enhanced educational opportunities.
Comparing current achievements with past administrations, the CM noted notable progress in minimum wheat procurement prices. Whereas prices stagnated under previous Congress rule until 2003, the current government has increased procurement rates to Rs 2,625 per quintal, marking a significant improvement in farmers’ income levels.
An important legal reform was also announced: Madhya Pradesh plans to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within the month. This move to enforce a common civil law aims to ensure equal rights and legal security, with reported support from diverse community groups, including Muslim women. The UCC is intended to reinforce the principle of “One Country, One Law.”
To enhance rural incomes, the government has introduced a scheme supporting integrated dairy farming. Under this plan, beneficiaries can establish 25-cow units with a subsidy of Rs 10 lakh, within a total scheme budget of Rs 40 lakh. The goal is to boost milk production in the state, aiming to elevate Madhya Pradesh’s position from third to the leading national producer.
Infrastructure developments include the resumption of bus services by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC), enabled by upgraded road connectivity to every village. This improvement is expected to facilitate better transport and connectivity for rural residents.
