Elon Musk publicly acknowledged that he was mistaken about Anthropic’s potential, reversing his previous doubts about the AI company’s chance of success in the competitive artificial intelligence field. Musk praised Anthropic’s performance, calling its model Mythos/Fable unmatched and indicating anticipation for an even stronger follow-up, Mythos 2.

This shift comes amid Anthropic’s recent partnership with SpaceXAI, Musk’s AI infrastructure venture, enabling the startup to access vital supercomputing resources under a short-term GPU lease agreement. Critics speculated Musk might exploit this arrangement to hinder Anthropic, but he firmly rejected any intention to damage the company, emphasizing a commitment to ethical competition.

Musk reinforced this stance by citing examples from his other businesses that prioritize collaboration over exclusivity. In 2014, Tesla open-sourced its electric vehicle patents to promote industry-wide progress in sustainable transport. Similarly, Tesla’s Supercharger network is accessible to other EV manufacturers, fostering a more inclusive charging ecosystem. SpaceX also serves commercial satellite operators, including competitors, on equal terms without price hikes or unfair conditions.

He extended these principles to his ownership of the social media platform X, where he highlighted that even his fiercest critics can voice their opinions freely, underscoring his preference for open dialogue rather than retaliation. Musk’s remarks suggest a consistent philosophy favoring long-term industry growth and fairness, even when facing intense rivalry.
